2008 ALL-STAR TEAMS & SCHEDULES
**SUBJECT TO CHANGE**
Rev. 3/10/08

There will be two All-Star teams with 12 players each (8 & Under, 10 & Under, and 12 & Under) and one (or two if possible) All-Star teams with a minimum of 12 players (14 & Under and 18 & Under); Team A (Silver Stars) and Team B (Purple Diamonds).  There is no All Star team in the 6 & Under T-Ball age group.

TRY-OUT ELIGIBILITY:  Players are eligible to try out for All-Stars in either the age group she played in during the season or in the age group that she is eligible for.  For example, if she is 14 years old, but elected to play up in the 18 & Under age group during the season, she can try out for either the 14 & Under All-Stars or the 18 & Under All-Stars.  HOWEVER, SHE CANNOT TRY OUT FOR ALL-STARS IN BOTH AGE GROUPS.

All players MUST attend 75% of their league games, be on the All-Star Nominee List (see below), be at All-Star try-outs and be able to make practices and all three All-Star tournaments (see below) to be considered for All-Stars.  All exceptions to these situations must be cleared through the OMGS Board of Directors before they are allowed to be selected as an All-Star.

COACH SELECTION:  Coaches in all age groups will be selected by the OMGS Board of Directors.  The Board will score and select each coach based on the "OMGS All Star Coach's Evaluation Form".  On or before May 27, one coach will be asked to coach Team A and another to coach Team B.  All Star coaches are allowed to scout players that are on the All Star Nominee List by watching games, viewing official scorebooks, etc.  All coaches are responsible to work together and plan out their own age group try-outs.  If you are interested and willing to commit to coaching All Stars, please contact Leslie Scott.

PLAYER NOMINATIONS:  Every head coach will nominate all eligible players that are interested in trying out from his/her 2008 league team.  All nominated players must meet all of the try-out eligibility requirements above and be able to commit to becoming an All Star.  If a player is eligible to try out in another age group and chooses to do so, coaches must nominate them for that age group.  REMINDER: Players cannot try out for All-Stars in both age groups.

Nominations are to be turned in on the "All Star Nominations Form" to Leslie Scott by May 27.  The All Star Nominee List will be given to all coaches for verification.  All players on the All-Star Nominee List will be invited to All-Star Try-Outs on Saturday, May 31 at Centennial Park.

SELECTION PROCESS:  The OMGS Board of Directors will supervise try-outs and expect coaches to select the top players in each age group.

8 & Under:  After try-outs, coaches will be allowed to pre-select four players from his/her 2008 league team who are listed on the All-Star Nominee List.  The A Team coach will then select the first pick and both sides will alternate picks until 24 All-Stars have been selected.  Coaches ARE NOT allowed to select another player from his/her 2008 league team until both coaches have selected 10 players.  COACHES MAY ONLY CHOOSE A MAXIMUM OF SIX PLAYERS FROM HIS/HER 2008 LEAGUE TEAM.

10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under and 18 & Under:  After try-outs, the Team A coach will select the first 12 players and then the Team B coach will select the next 12 players.  COACHES MAY ONLY CHOOSE A MAXIMUM OF SIX PLAYERS FROM HIS/HER 2008 LEAGUE TEAM.

ALL-STAR FEES:  If a player is selected as an All-Star, she will be expected to pay an additional $125.00.  This fee will will cover the cost of three (3) tournaments (including the 2007 Oquirrh Mountain Invitational tournament for the 8 & Under and 10 & Under teams) and an upgraded nylon uniform.
